Prince William has proposed to Kate Middleton and he hashonored his late mother, Princess Diana by giving his new fiancée the engagement ring that Prince Charles once gave to her. Prince William   made it known that the ring was very special to him just as much as Kate is. The ring is an oval sapphire surrounded by diamonds. William proposed to Kate on a safari in Kenya in October 2010.
